What is particular

Freezer columns carry DRZ model numbers (DRZ18980, DRZ24980, DRZ30980, DRZ30990, DRZ36980) with left or right hinges, panel-ready or with Contemporary stainless kits. The width and the ice maker option decide which parts and button layout apply.

Warnings arrive on the phone

A connected Dacor freezer column sends an abnormally high temperature alarm and a door opening alarm to SmartThings, and the app's Self Check looks for abnormal operation. We ask owners to bring up those alerts, because the cabinet itself shows little beyond oF and the door alarm light.

A showroom mode that stops cooling

Cooling Off, also called Shop mode, keeps the display and lights running while the column does not cool, and the display reads oF. We rule it out first on any new or relocated column that will not get cold.

Power Freeze and a wide set range

The freezer can be set from 5 °F down to -8 °F, and Power Freeze runs it at full power for several hours to freeze a new load fast. A column that never leaves Power Freeze or will not hold the low settings tells us where to start.

Defrost that can follow utility programs

Dacor columns support Smart Grid functions, including a Delay Defrost setting that moves the defrost to a time the owner picks. When frost builds or temperatures swing, we check those settings before testing defrost parts.

Parts

Dacor is part of Samsung, and column parts are ordered by the full model and serial number from the label inside the cabinet. Control and sealed-system parts for older columns can take extra time to arrive.

Repair or replace

A built-in Dacor column is sized to its cabinetry and paired with a matching column, so repair is usually the sensible path for controls, fans, defrost parts and door hardware. Replacement becomes worth discussing when a sealed-system repair meets an older column whose partner unit is also aging.

Does Dacor make an upright or chest freezer?
No. Dacor's standalone freezers in the US are built-in freezer columns. A freezer drawer inside a Dacor French door unit is part of that appliance rather than a separate freezer.
Why is my Dacor freezer column lit but not cold?
Look for oF on the display, which means Cooling Off (Shop) mode is on. If the display shows a normal temperature, the column needs a diagnostic visit.
How long does Sabbath mode last on a Dacor freezer column?
It stays on for 85 hours and then switches off by itself. It also stays on after a power cut until you turn it off.
Can SmartThings tell me when my Dacor freezer is warming up?
Yes. The app lists an alarm for abnormally high temperature in the freezer, plus a door opening alarm, as long as the column is connected.
