Newer developments

In newer neighborhoods the same freezer model sits in many garages, bought in the same move-in season, and the same worn part tends to show up house after house along the street within a couple of years.

Gated communities

An estate behind a gate may run a freezer column in the kitchen, freezer drawers at the bar and a chest freezer in a service room, and the staff who check them before an event are usually the first to report one running warm.

Family houses

In a busy household packages get stacked against the back wall of the upright, which blocks the fan's air path, so the top shelf warms while the bottom stays hard, a pattern that points to airflow before it points to a part.
