What the form asks,
and why.
What you write here reaches the technician ahead of the visit, which makes it likelier that the right relay, sensor or fan motor is already in the van. Sending it commits you to nothing; the freezer is priced only after it has been diagnosed.
Have the model number to hand if you can find it: where the model plate is covers the usual places.
Rather talk? (844) 456-4651Step oneWhich freezer, and what it is doing
Upright, chest, built-in column or undercounter, the make, and whether the food is softening, frost is building, it runs without stopping, it is loud or it leaks. That decides who comes out and which relays, sensors and gaskets travel along.
Step twoA day and a time that suit you
Choose a day and a window that let you get on with things rather than waiting in all day.
Step threeReaching the freezer
Where the freezer stands, whether that is the garage, the basement or the kitchen, and a number the technician can call on the day. Mention whether you rent or own, and any side gate, garage code, parking tip or pet we should know about.
After you book,
the visit.
The three steps above are the booking. These four are what happens once a technician is in your home.
What repairs costTemperatures read before any part is named
The technician measures the cabinet and the air at the coil, listens to the compressor and the fans, and checks the defrost system and the door or lid seal while the freezer runs.
A figure before the work begins
You hear what the freezer needs and what it costs before a single part is fitted. If a new freezer makes more sense than this repair, you hear that as well.
The common freezer parts in the van
Start relays, overload protectors, thermostats, fan motors, defrost timers and sensors usually ride along. A compressor, a sealed system repair, a control board or a gasket cut for one model is ordered by number, so giving that number when you book can spare a second visit.
Brought back down to 0 degrees
With the new part fitted, the technician checks that the compressor starts, the fans turn and the cabinet is falling toward 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and tells you how long to wait before loading the food back in.
Before the
technician arrives.
Three things that make the first visit the only one.
What a code meansKeep the door or lid closed
Every look inside lets the cold out. Open it only to move food, and if the wait is long, put the food in a working freezer or a cooler with ice rather than checking it again and again.
Copy any code or alarm pattern
If the display shows letters or a light keeps flashing, write down what it shows and how many flashes. The same code can point to different parts on different makes.
Clear the way to the freezer
Move the bikes, boxes or laundry from around the unit so the back, the base and the grille can be reached. Note when the trouble started and what came just before it: a power outage, a move, a heat wave or a freezer packed full after a big shop.
