What Pinecrest does

Hurricane Andrew wrecked much of the area in August 1992, and many homes and businesses had to be rebuilt over the following years.

The village incorporated on March 12, 1996, after years as unincorporated Miami-Dade County.

In 2002 the village bought the old Parrot Jungle site, a 1936 attraction, and made it Pinecrest Gardens.
