What Winter Park does
to a freezer.

The city aims to have every overhead line in its electric service area buried by 2030 and pays homeowners an incentive to move their own service wires underground.

Winter Park generates none of its own power and buys about 100 megawatts, partly under long-term contracts with the Florida Municipal Power Association and OUC.

Charley did considerable damage here in 2004 because the city's many large old oaks had never been through high winds.
