What Tribeca does

The name Tribeca was coined in the early 1970s and at first covered only a small triangle bounded by Broadway and Canal, Lispenard and Church Streets.

The Tribeca Historic District takes in buildings such as the Textile Building of 1901, and the landmarked Verizon Building went up between 1923 and 1927.

When Hurricane Sandy struck in October 2012, Tribeca fell inside the blackout that covered all of Lower Manhattan below 39th Street.

Tower living

Defrost water from a freezer column in a condo has one route, a tube to a pan above the floor, and if that tube clogs the overflow runs under the cabinets toward the apartment below, so a small puddle at the toe kick is treated as urgent in a tower.
