Miele freezers,
specifically.

Miele's standalone freezers in the US are fully built-in: MasterCool freezer columns such as the F 2672 Vi, some with an ice and water dispenser on the front, and integrated niche freezers such as the FNS 7794 E with its IceMaker. Both report trouble through lit symbols or display messages and, for real failures, an F number.

The Miele lineup

The Miele
lineup.

Miele builds 1 of the 4 freezer types this site covers. Which one decides how the visit is planned.

All freezer types

What is particular
to Miele.

We see MasterCool freezer columns (F 2462 Vi to F 2672 Vi, some with a front dispenser) and integrated niche freezers such as the FNS 7794 E. The panels, door assistant and dispenser add to the diagnosis on the columns; the niche models are mostly about airflow, drawers and the IceMaker.

A climate class on the data plate

Miele rates each freezer for a room temperature band from SN to T, printed on the data plate inside. An SN-rated freezer can cope with rooms down to 41°F, so the plate is the first thing to read when a Miele sits in a cool space.

Doors with a push or pull assistant

MasterCool columns use Push2Open for handleless fronts and Pull2Open for fronts with handles. A door that springs open or refuses to open is often the assistant's setting, not the hinge.

Warmest temperature after every warm-up

After a temperature alarm or a power outage, the display flashes the warmest temperature the freezer zone reached. That reading is what decides whether the food is still safe.

F numbers are for the technician

When a real failure occurs the display shows F with a number and an alarm, and Miele asks you to note it and contact service. The F number, plus the appliance data shown on the display, is what we need before the visit.

Parts

Miele freezer parts come through Miele's own parts channel and are matched to the model and serial number. Dispenser and door-assistant parts for MasterCool columns can take extra time to arrive.

Repair or replace

A built-in Miele freezer is repaired in almost every case, because it is fitted into custom cabinetry and most failures sit in one module. Replacement is worth discussing only after a sealed-system failure on an older unit.

Questions about
Miele freezers.

My Miele built-in freezer shows F and a number. What should I do?
Miele shows an F number when the freezer has found a real failure, and it does not publish what each number means. Tap to silence the alarm, write down the F number and the appliance data from the display, and book a visit.
Can a Miele freezer column go in a cool basement?
Check the climate class on the data plate inside. An SN-rated freezer is designed for rooms from 50°F and copes down to 41°F; below that the compressor rests too long to hold the freezer cold.
Why did my Miele freezer flash a temperature after the power came back?
It is showing the warmest temperature the freezer zone reached during the outage, for about a minute. Use that number to judge the food, then tap the symbol to clear the alarm.
