A freezer that stands on its own
JennAir says each column is a single cooling unit that never shares humidity or odor with its neighbor. A warm freezer column is diagnosed by itself, even when the refrigerator beside it is fine.
Two zones, two sensors
JennAir's column freezer manages two zones with separate sensors, and a deli drawer can be set to Assorted, Spirits or DeepFreeze. A drawer that seems too warm may just be on a different zone setting.
A power switch behind the toe kick
The column's power switch hides behind the removable toe kick at the bottom. A column that is dark and silent is checked there before anything else.
Named alerts on the panel
The freezer panel shows Power Outage, Over Temp and Door Open, and a showroom mode that turns cooling off. Knowing which one is lit tells us whether the column failed or was set that way.
Parts
Column parts, panels and control boards are ordered by the model and serial number on the column's label. Built-in parts can take extra time to arrive.
Repair or replace
A JennAir column is built into cabinetry and matched to its partner column, so repair is the default. Replacement is weighed mainly after a sealed-system failure on an older column.
