What E2
actually means.
E2 is logged when thermistor 2, the evaporator sensor, reads open. The control uses this sensor on the cooling coil to manage defrost, so trouble here often shows up as frost building on the rear wall. U-Line keeps it in the error log, read in service mode; only the door code is shown on the display during normal use.

What to do when E2 shows on the freezerKind of codeTemperature sensors
The control lost its reading of how cold the cabinet, the coil or the air around the freezer is, because a thermistor reports nonsense or its wire came loose. Without that number the control either runs the compressor without stopping or lets the cabinet drift warm. A sensor packed in frost and a connector loosened by a move are checked before the sensor itself is replaced.

Shows up asFreezer Error Code
A freezer error code appears on the display: letters and digits, a flashing temperature, or a warning symbol, sometimes with an alarm and sometimes with the freezer still running.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from U-Line's own guidance for E2 on its freezers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Look for frost more than a quarter inch thick on the rear wall; U-Line says that much calls for a manual defrost.
If you defrost by hand, unplug the unit first and never use sharp tools or a heater to speed it up.
Book a visit and mention E2, because the evaporator sensor has to be tested and replaced if open.

It usually turns into freezer thermostat and temperature control repair. Book with the code and the model number.
What not to do
E2 is not the cabinet sensor, which is E1. A shorted evaporator sensor is logged as E6, not E2.

Still showing E2?
Book with the code or the alarm pattern written exactly as the freezer shows it, the full model number, and whether the food is still frozen hard — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
