What oPn
actually means.
On Viking 5 Series built-in all freezers, the temperature sensor alarm watches the sensors electronically. When one reads as an open circuit, the alarm sounds and the display shows oPn; pressing ALARM OFF silences it, but the sensor still needs attention.

What to do when oPn shows on the freezerKind of codeTemperature sensors
The control lost its reading of how cold the cabinet, the coil or the air around the freezer is, because a thermistor reports nonsense or its wire came loose. Without that number the control either runs the compressor without stopping or lets the cabinet drift warm. A sensor packed in frost and a connector loosened by a move are checked before the sensor itself is replaced.

Repairing the dial thermostat or the sensor and control that decide when a freezer cools, so it stops running without end or quitting too early.
Shows up asFreezer Error Code
A freezer error code appears on the display: letters and digits, a flashing temperature, or a warning symbol, sometimes with an alarm and sometimes with the freezer still running.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for oPn on its freezers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Press ALARM OFF to silence the tone.
Put a thermometer in the freezer and check it over the next day, since the control is short of accurate readings.
Book a visit and mention oPn, so the sensor and its connector can be tested.

What not to do
oPn is not the word "open" for the door; the door alarm uses its own DOOR OPEN light. The shorted sensor version is shown as Shr.
