Liebherr Door alarm: the freezer door has been open too long

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Liebherr's own guidance for Door alarm on its freezers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Close the door and check that no drawer, the IceTower tray or a package is holding it open.

02

Give the freezer time to recover before you judge the temperature on the display.

03

If the alarm sounds with the door firmly shut, check that the seal sits in its groove, then book a visit.

Cleared?

The freezer is holding its temperature again and no part had to be replaced. If the same code comes back within a few days, or the packages start to soften again, book it as a fresh problem.

What not to do

The door alarm does not mean the door switch or seal has failed if the door really was open. It is also separate from the temperature alarm, which you may see afterward if the door stayed open a long time.

What you may
notice with it.

The freezer problems Door alarm tends to arrive with. Answer these at the freezer before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting the freezer was put into, often by accident or by the store it came from, rather than a part that broke: a showroom or demo mode that lights the display while the compressor stays off, a fast freeze left running for days, a Sabbath setting that silences the alarms, a control lock, a door alarm reminding you the door stood open. Nothing has worn out, and the freezer's own buttons or manual put it back.

Questions
about Door alarm.

Can I clear Door alarm myself?
Close the door and check that no drawer, the IceTower tray or a package is holding it open.
Can I change when the Liebherr freezer door alarm goes off?
Yes. The Touch & Swipe freezers let you set how long the door may stay open before the alarm sounds.
Why does my Liebherr show a warmer temperature right after the door alarm?
Warm air came in while the door was open, and the freezer is now cooling harder to catch up. The displayed figure can run higher than the actual food temperature for a while.
My Liebherr door alarm sounds with the door closed. What should I check?
Look for a seal that has slipped out of its groove or a drawer that stops the door from closing fully. If both look fine, have the door and its sensing checked.

Still showing Door alarm?

Book with the code or the alarm pattern written exactly as the freezer shows it, the full model number, and whether the food is still frozen hard — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
