What DEMO
actually means.

DEMO on the IQ-Touch control of an Electrolux all-freezer column means showroom mode is on. In this mode the panel and lights work but cooling has stopped, so the column warms toward room temperature. It is cleared from the panel by holding minus and ICE MAKER together for ten seconds.

What to do when DEMO shows on the freezer

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Electrolux's own guidance for DEMO on its freezers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Move any food that has softened to a working freezer or a cooler with ice.

02

Press and hold minus and ICE MAKER together for ten seconds until DEMO disappears.

03

Keep the door closed and allow up to 24 hours for the column to reach its setting.

04

Book a visit if DEMO keeps coming back or the column stays warm once it has cleared.

Cleared?

The freezer is holding its temperature again and no part had to be replaced. If the same code comes back within a few days, or the packages start to soften again, book it as a fresh problem.

What not to do

DEMO is not an Electrolux failure code, and no part needs replacing to clear it. If the display is normal and the column is still warm, the cause is in the cooling system, not the setting.

What you may
notice with it.

The freezer problems DEMO tends to arrive with. Answer these at the freezer before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting the freezer was put into, often by accident or by the store it came from, rather than a part that broke: a showroom or demo mode that lights the display while the compressor stays off, a fast freeze left running for days, a Sabbath setting that silences the alarms, a control lock, a door alarm reminding you the door stood open. Nothing has worn out, and the freezer's own buttons or manual put it back.

Questions
about DEMO.

Can I clear DEMO myself?
Move any food that has softened to a working freezer or a cooler with ice.
Why would a brand-new Electrolux freezer column arrive in DEMO?
Floor models and some delivered units are left in showroom mode, where the display works but nothing cools. Clear it with the button combination before loading food.
Is my Electrolux column damaged after running in DEMO for days?
No. It simply sat at room temperature. Once DEMO is cleared, give it a full day to pull down, and discard any food that warmed.
The ice maker stopped too. Is that part of DEMO on an Electrolux freezer?
Without cooling the ice maker cannot freeze water, so it stops producing. Ice returns once the column is cold again.

Still showing DEMO?

Book with the code or the alarm pattern written exactly as the freezer shows it, the full model number, and whether the food is still frozen hard — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
