Who writes
the guides.

The freezer pages here come from the technicians who answer freezer calls in houses, garages, basements and condos. They start with what owners say when they book: meat going soft at the edges, a wall of ice inside a chest freezer, a lid that no longer pulls shut, an alarm that keeps sounding, or a unit in the garage that quit when the weather turned.

We do not write about freezers we do not repair, and we never list a code that no maker has published. When a manual or a public agency settles a point, the page links to it; when a point comes only from our own freezer visits, the page tells you so.

Why the freezer stopped freezing: sounds, frost and a thermometer

How a guide
is written.

Four rules every guide on this site follows, from the first question to the last revision.

01

Built on what people call about

Topics come from the way owners describe a freezer when they book, and from the quick checks worth doing before a visit, such as feeling for a gap along the gasket, clearing the grille or reading a thermometer set among the packages.

02

Checked against the maker's documents

Model details, room temperature limits, defrost instructions and what an alarm or code means come from the owner's manual, installation guide or service papers the maker publishes, linked next to the line that relies on them.

03

Food safety in the agencies' own words

How long frozen food lasts with the door or lid closed, what to keep and what to throw out after an outage, and how to handle a burning smell follow the FDA, USDA and similar agencies, quoted as written and linked.

04

Dated and kept current

Each freezer page shows the day it was first published and the day it last changed, and we revise it when a maker or an agency updates the page it cites.

Questions about
the guides.

Who writes the freezer guides on this site?
The technicians who handle the freezer visits booked here. What they find in garages, basements and kitchens is checked against the makers' published manuals whenever those exist.
Are these freezer pages paid for or approved by any manufacturer?
No. We are an independent repair business, and no maker funds, edits or signs off on anything written here.
How do I report a mistake in a freezer guide?
Send the guide's title and the sentence you doubt through the contact page. We look into it, fix the page if it is wrong, and the updated date changes with the correction.
