Battery Park City stands on 92 acres built out into the Hudson River in the 1970s from more than 3 million cubic yards of soil and rock, much of it excavated for the World Trade Center. ## What Battery Park City does to a freezer. Residential building moved onto the northern lots past the World Financial Center in the late 1990s, and the last of them was finished in early 2011. In October 2012 Sandy's floodwater covered sections of the neighborhood, among them its ball fields and parts of West Street, which set the city and the neighborhood's own authority to planning coastal protection for Lower Manhattan. Sandy's surge at the Battery, on the southern tip of Manhattan beside the neighborhood, reached 14.06 feet above average low tide, the highest water level recorded there. [All of New York Metro](https://freezerrepair.center/locations/new-york/) ### Tower living A tower's generator usually carries the elevators, the stair lights and the pumps rather than the apartments, so a freezer on a high floor warms like any other in an outage, and the plan is to keep it shut and know where a cooler and bagged ice can be found. ### Newer developments In newer neighborhoods the same freezer model sits in many garages, bought in the same move-in season, and the same worn part tends to show up house after house along the street within a couple of years. ### On the water Along salt water a garage or patio freezer loses its condenser and its tubing to corrosion long before its insulation wears out, and a slow warming there is checked for a pinhole leak where salt has eaten through a joint. ## A visit in Battery Park City.
