E6 records a short on thermistor 2, the evaporator sensor. As with E2, the main risk is defrost that ends at the wrong time, which lets frost build on the coil until airflow and cooling drop. U-Line freezer display What to do when E6 shows on the freezer ### Kind of code Temperature sensors The control lost its reading of how cold the cabinet, the coil or the air around the freezer is, because a thermistor reports nonsense or its wire came loose. Without that number the control either runs the compressor without stopping or lets the cabinet drift warm. Check the back wall for thick frost or ice, and note whether the freezer is warmer than usual. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why is my U-Line freezer icing up on the back wall? A door that does not seal is the most common cause, but an evaporator sensor logged as E2 or E6 can also stop defrost from working properly. ### Can E6 make a U-Line freezer leak water? It can indirectly. Ice that builds up and then melts all at once can overflow the normal drain path and leave water in the cabinet or on the floor. ### Where does the U-Line technician find E6? In the error log, which is opened from service mode.
