A heater that burned open, a defrost thermostat or a timer that stuck, or a drain frozen shut lets frost wrap the coil until air cannot pass. If something keeps making the coil too cold, such as a door leak or an airflow or sensing problem, TEY comes back. ### Is it safe to run a defrost with food in the Perlick drawers? Yes, the manual defrost is designed to run with the unit in use. Keep the drawers closed while it runs. ### Why did TEY appear after the drawer was left open? Moist air from the room freezes onto the coil, and a heavily iced coil reads cold.
