Ed on the ML24FA means the defrost temperature sensor has failed. Marvel warns the unit will not defrost properly, can build up large amounts of frost, and may cause water damage to the unit and floor, so it asks you to unplug it right away. A heater that burned open, a defrost thermostat or a timer that stuck, or a drain frozen shut lets frost wrap the coil until air cannot pass.
