The cause can be as simple as a door left ajar or a long power outage, or as serious as a compressor that stopped. Press Alarm Reset to stop the tone and leave the door shut. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why did my new GE upright freezer show High Temp as soon as I plugged it in? The cabinet is at room temperature when it first starts, so the control reports it as too warm. Press Alarm Reset and wait at least four hours before loading food; the light turns off once the freezer is cold. ### Does pressing Alarm Reset fix the High Temp condition on my GE upright? No. It only silences the tone. The High Temp light stays on until the cabinet is back at its set temperature, and the alarm returns after six hours if it never gets there. ### Is my food safe when the GE High Temp light is on? Check it. Food that still has ice crystals is usually fine to keep frozen, but anything soft or thawed should be cooked or thrown out.
