If the freezer has cooled back down before anyone presses Alarm Reset, the tone and High Temp light stop by themselves, but the display keeps flashing until you press Alarm Reset. The outlet, the circuit, a GFCI in a garage or basement and an extension cord are checked before anything inside the freezer.
