VACATION on a Vario freezer column display means holiday mode. The appliance switches to energy saving operation, turns off its illumination and ends fast freezing if it was running, until the Holiday button is pressed again. Gaggenau freezer display What to do when VACATION shows on the freezer ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure A setting the freezer was put into, often by accident or by the store it came from, rather than a part that broke: a showroom or demo mode that lights the display while the compressor stays off, a fast freeze left running for days, a Sabbath setting that silences the alarms, a control lock, a door alarm reminding you the door stood open. Nothing has worn out, and the freezer's own buttons or manual put it back. ### Usually leads to No repair Press the Holiday button to switch the mode off; the previous settings and temperatures come back. ### Shows up as Freezer Light Out A freezer light not working leaves the cabinet dark when the door or lid opens, while the freezer itself may still hum and hold its cold. ### Make Gaggenau Gaggenau freezers repaired in the home, starting with the temperature they hold and the alarm they give. ### Source Gaggenau Instruction for Use, freezer RF 411, RF 413, RF 461, RF 463, RF 471 Gaggenau Vario RF 411, RF 413, RF 461, RF 463 and RF 471 freezer columns (instruction 9000909130). Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Press the Holiday button to switch the mode off; the previous settings and temperatures come back. 02 If you are adding a lot of fresh food, start fast freezing again after leaving holiday mode. 03 Book a visit only if the column does not return to its set temperature once the mode is off. ### Cleared? The freezer is holding its temperature again and no part had to be replaced. If the same code comes back within a few days, or the packages start to soften again, book it as a fresh problem. ### What not to do VACATION shown steadily is holiday mode. A flashing VACATION together with RESTMODE is Rest mode, which also silences sounds and locks the buttons. ## What you may notice with it. The freezer problems VACATION tends to arrive with.
